Bio sketch- Sarah Palin

Sarah Louise Heath Palin is the runnings mate fro John McCain. She was born on February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho and when she was three her family moved to Alaska. In 1987 she received her Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Idaho. She entered politics in 1992 when she won a seat on the Wasilla city council by opposing tax hikes. She was elected mayor of Wasilla in 1996. In 1988 she eloped with Todd Palin, they have five children together. As mayor, she cut property taxes, reduced spending, and raised money for public safety. In 2002 she ran for the first state wide campaign in a bid for the republican nomination for lieutenant governor, but lost. Palin was appointed to chair of states oil and gas conservation commissioner in 2003 by the Alaskan governor but resigned a year later. In 2006 she won Republican primary for governor and won the general election in November 2006, 49% to 41%. On December 4, 2006 she was sworn in as the first women and youngest governor of Alaska. As governor, she focused on education, public safety, and transportation. Palin was picked August 29, 2008 at the Republican National Convention.

Palin’s beliefs are based on her opinion, republic beliefs, and her protestant religion. She is pro-life, supports the teaching of creationism, and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife refuge in Alaska. She sees energy as a foundation of national security and opposes stem cell research. Likewise, she wants to cut down pollution and global warming. Her beliefs are her perspective but are similar to the politicians too.
