Reflection: Applying the Essential Question to the Political Cartoons

What happens in society affects an individual and what an individual does affects society. Through the process of doing my political cartoons I figured that out. For example before Palin was in the picture, the cartoons were comparing the candidates views and the spot light was on Obama. Once Palin got evolved in the campaign, the media focused on her. It became all about her and she even pushed McCain out of the picture. The election seemed like it was more between Obama and Plain. When people started noticing this, some got the impression that McCain was weak and since the media was focused on Palin they thought that he may have things to hide. People also thought that maybe McCain was trying to get through the election without any answers and then once he was in office, society would find out the truth about him. Another example of an individual effecting society is When Obama’s preacher was caught saying inappropriate things, so society felt as is Obama must feel the same way. As a result, some people in society chose to vote for McCain instead. I think that the essential question comes hand in hand because what a person does effects society and what happens in society effects a person.
