Identifying science issues

Nuclear Weapons are weapons of mass destruction. Nuclear weapons are explosive devices and destructive forces from nuclear reactions of either fission or a combination of fission and fusion. There are two basic types of nuclear weapon, fission bombs and thermonuclear bombs. Nuclear warfare is used for either fighting or avoiding nuclear war.

Climate change is in effect now and is because there are too many green house gases being in the atmosphere. It is believed to be caused by human activities. Some of the activities are burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gases. Other activities are cutting down and burning trees. These are main causes of climate change because they produce carbon dioxide, which is the main gas responsible for climate change. When more and more heat is trapped it makes the earth warmer causing global warming. By keeping on polluting the earth with these gases it will only make it worst and in effect, the planet will keep getting warmer and the weather will change to warmer temperatures. All of the seasons will become warmer and there will be a drastic, bad change for the countries on earth.

Offshore drilling is the drilling of oil off of the coast. This is a 50/50 issue because people are either for it or against it. However, the presidential candidates are not because they are undecided about drilling off of the coast. Even if something is done about drilling offshore, it will take years to really make a difference.

VIEWS
Obama: Wants a world with NO nuclear weapons- disagrees
McCain: Stresses that the U.S. needs to continue to deploy a nuclear deterrent because it is naive to say that we will not need them- agrees
Obama: Carbon cap-and-trade law and reduce to 80% of carbon dioxide output- auction 100% of the carbon permits to the industry
McCain: Carbon cap-and-trade law and reduce carbon output to 60%- carbon permits to only big energy producers
Obama: Against lifting the ban on offshore oil drilling
McCain: In the beginning he voted against unlimited offshore drilling but now he is for it

I feel that we should not have nuclear weapons because we should have peace throughout our nations. We should not need them because we should not be making predictions that someone else is going to blow us up. If they are going to do it, then we will know then and it was our fate. Imagine if they were not going to do any thing and then we attacked. We just killed a bunch of people for no reason. We also should not be in wars anyway because there is no point in them and nobody really wins because there are so many looses, especially not nuclear war.

At this point and time there is nothing that we can do to have a great environment anymore. We have already destroyed it and yes we can improve it but we can not get it back to where it used to be. Plus we all know what we are doing to the environment, but are we really trying to make a difference? The only thing we can do is try to improve the environment, but by one or two people trying to make a difference, it is not going to improve.

Truthfully I do not really understand offshore drilling. Even after my research, I do not comprehend. Yes gas prices are high and it is going to take a while and a big change to get them back at a reasonable price. Also, I feel that the presidential candidates should believe what they really feel in their hearts. They should not go with other people’s answers or the answer they thing will get them a vote.
